Aurora – Intermediate Accountant

 

This role is an opportunity for an energetic, well-rounded individual who is a self-starter to be in a hands-on role in a small publicly traded company with responsibility for the complete financial function within the company. The opportunity for the successful candidate is to put into practice their knowledge of the fundamentals of the financial operations of the business and further developing the internal process management practices. This position will begin as a remote role but will, over time, develop back into an ‘in-office’ position located at the North Vancouver location.

The intermediate accountant will initially be responsible for:

  • Full-cycle accounting including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, bookkeeping, and reconciliations;
  • Preparation and submission of all statutory reporting requirements mandated by regulatory bodies;
  • Assist in the development of an internal management accounting system including cost-centre budgeting, tracking and reporting;
  • Assist in the analysis of financial business operations, performance, and prepare regular reports on the same;
  • Responsibility for the day-to-day execution of procedures related to both internal and customer-facing financial matters.

Over time this role may to include:

  • Assisting in growing the finance department as appropriate;
  • Involvement in and some oversight of the administrative functions;
  • Assisting in the compilation and consolidation of the group financial statements

Requirements

  • Ability and desire to both ‘do’ and ‘analyze’
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
  • Experience with general bookkeeping, with ideally 5+ years with practical experience with full cycle accounting
  • Ideally 3+ years with senior level accounts payable experience, including foreign currency transactions
  • Familiarity and experience with IFRS accounting standards (preferred but not required)
  • Demonstrated experience delivering on time, accurate financial information to internal management
  • Accreditation or diploma in accounting
  • Ideally 3+ years of experience in product-oriented businesses with international operations, including inventory and supplier management (inventory management experience a must)
  • 2+ years minimum HR and payroll experience

 

Experience with the following technologies and systems would be a great asset (but not required):

  • Sage 50 – Cloudbased
  • Zoho One
  • Ceridian – Powerpoint
  • Nexonia (or another cloud-based) expense and time tracking system
  • Public company audit experience
